• Skin Types: Characteristics of the skin from oily to dry
• Skintone: Predominant visual hue in the surface of the skin
• Suede: Leather with a napped surface.
• Sueded: Fabric that has been napped (brushed) on one side to resemble
suede leather.
• Taffeta: A smooth yet crisp fabric with a sheen on it’s surface that is usually
used for eveningwear.
• Tailored: A clothing style designed with predominantly straighter lines
• Target Market: A group of potential customers fitting a specific profile
• Tasseled Loafer: A moccasin-style slip-on shoe with a broad flat heel and a
front tassel
• Temperature: Warm hues (red, orange, yellow) cool hues (blue, violet,
green)

• Tertiary Hues: Created by mixing a primary and secondary hue. Their names
are hyphenated and begin with the primary color used to identify the mixture
• Texture: Surface quality of something such as fabric
• Tinted: White added to the hue
• Toasted: Brown added to the hue
• Trend: Colors, fabrics, prints and silhouettes favored by the world’s leading
fashion designers which are copied and reinterpreted for the mass market
• Triadic: Three hues equidistant apart on the color wheel
• Triangle/Pear Silhouette: A term describing a body silhouette resembling
the geometric shape of triangle
• Tweed: A sturdy, rough wool fabric with dots of colour created by dyed fibers.
• Value: relative degree of lightness or darkness of a hue
• Velveteen: A cotton pile fabric with a very short, dense pile.
• Verbal Communication: Words, tempo, tone and inflection used to
communicate an idea
• Voice Inflection: Alteration in pitch or tone of the voice
• Voice Tempo: Speed at which you talk
• Voice Tone: The pitch of the voice whether high or low
• Wardrobe Evaluation: The process of deciding what works in a wardrobe,
what does not work and why
• Wardrobe Neutral: Dulled muted tones such as navy, burgundy, brown, tan,
ivory, taupe, olive, teal or plum that coordinate easily
• Wardrobe: A larger group of clothes and accessories serving all the needs of
the individual
• Washed: The hue has been thinned with water
